evil twin

Based on thoughts on environmental, light and atmospheric pollution, the performance “evil twin” deals with the extraction of gold and other precious metals under adverse conditions and the exploitation of land and people.

While precious metals are “dirty” in their extraction, i.e. they destroy the planet (as an entire ecosystem including indigenous population groups and working people), in other parts of the world they are used as a status symbol in the form of gold jewelry or as components in many technical devices (e.g. cell phones, electric cars) and are considered a “clean” alternative, at least when it comes to the latter.

“evil twin” was created as an interdisciplinary performance in collaboration with Luis Brunner. Trapped in a self-contained racing highway, we tell of unity and division, of exploitation and consumption and of the emptiness that we only ever increase in our attempts to fill it.
